Our Work
For decades, COIN has served as a student support and services office for American Indian/Native American, First Nation(s), and Alaska Native students at the UMNTC. We support American Indian students by offering a range of specialized services, initiatives and programs developed strategically to assist them in navigating their journey at the U as Indigenous students. We also advocate for and advance their needs in various campus settings through our work, services, and strategic partnerships. We promote and connect students with specialized resources and opportunities to expand/broaden their professional and intellectual interests. We also strive to enhance their sense of connection and community to/with their campus peers, and respective communities. Through our American Indian programming (and specifically, Dakota and Ojibwe-centered programming), we also aim to create an on-campus space where American Indian/Native American students, and global Native and Indigenous students can build relations with each other.
